Are you interested in Manchester-area history? Did you know there is an active local historical society, nearly a half century old? Not only does it operate the historical museum on the second floor of the Kingsley-Jenter House and the Blacksmith Shop, produce an annual calendar, and offer classes, members are actively researching and presenting new scholarship.

The Manchester Area Historical Society general membership meeting is Thursday, January 12, at 7pm at the Kingsley-Jenter House, 302 E Main. They’ll have usual updates on upcoming and ongoing events, a talk on “Windham,“ a dream village platted in 1836 to compete with the Village of Manchester, and recent research done on the early pioneers and settlers of south Manchester Township, who came a different way and with different backgrounds from the settlers who founded Manchester Village.

All this will be followed by refreshments! Everyone is welcome.
