Seniors confidently start plans for 2023

It has been a very long almost-three years since the Manchester Area Senior Citizens gathered for their twice-weekly lunches at Emanuel United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. But starting now, in January 2023, they’re back!

COVID-19 restrictions, bus problems, health concerns, and financial issues have delayed these once much-anticipated gatherings for too long. It’s time to come back and enjoy getting together and have a great meal. And — would the chance of winning a prize entice you just a little more?

Meals are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week, served promptly at noon at the Emanuel Church, 324 W Main St (rear entrance is wheelchair-accessible). Take-out meals for pickup are available from 11:30am to 12:15pm. The third Thursday of each month has been designated as Fun Day, and beginning this week, Thursday, January 19, there will be free Bingo with prizes to be won!

Cook Rebecca Paul has announced the menu for this Tuesday, January 17, is Ravioli, Coleslaw, Garlic Toast, Butter, and Dessert. Thursday’s (January 19) menu is Goulash, Cottage Cheese, Bread and Butter, and Dessert … followed by free Bingo!

Meal prices are a very reasonable $5 per person ages 55+. (It’s $5.50 if you’re under 55; you’re still welcome to drop in if you’re not a senior! Give your senior neighbor a ride and stay for lunch with them.) When it’s birthday-meal day, your lunch is free if you’re 90+ and just $3.50 if you’re a birthday “youngster.“

To order meals for dine-in, take-out, or delivery, contact Charlene Steele-Provey at (517) 262-7828. If she is unable to take your call, leave a message with your name, phone number, and how many meals you need. Reservations must be called in no later than 6pm the day BEFORE the meal is served.
