During the month of December 2022 there were 166 calls for service. During this time 101 traffic stops were made, resulting in 38 citations.

Noteworthy events in Manchester Village during last month include:

On December 5, a Collaboration Deputy responded to the 100 Block of E. Main for a report of a Fraud. The victim was defrauded of $400 in Bitcoin transactions through Social Media and does not know the identity of the suspect. Bitcoin is unfortunately untraceable, thus no suspect information is available.

On December 28, a Collaboration Deputy responded to the 100 Block of S. Union St. for a Fraud. The victim was defrauded of $4,000 in Bitcoin transactions after meeting a subject on Social Media. After investigating the suspect’s profile, it was learned that the account is fraudulent as well, thus no true suspect information exists.

Sgt. Gebauer warned again that if you are approached by a stranger or even someone who is ostensibly a “friend“ on social media it could be a spoofed account; you should be extremely wary and end the conversation immediately without making any financial commitment. He reiterated that Bitcoin is untraceable and if you are scammed, your money is gone.

Ordinance violations included three vehicle violations; two for parked vehicles in the 100 Block of Hibbard and the 100 Block of E. Main, and a Junk Vehicle citation, which was red tagged (and subsequently corrected) in the 900 Block of E. Duncan.

A reminder: The Sheriff’s Office recently implemented a new online police-reporting portal. Citizens can now file certain types of police reports online without needing contact with a Deputy or to go to a station.

The following types of incidents may be filed online:

  •   Harassing Phone Calls/ No Known Suspects
  •   Identity Theft/ No Known Suspects
  •   Lost Property
  •   Larceny/ Theft/ No Known Suspects
  •   Damaged Property/Vandalism
  •   Accidental/Non-Intentional Property Damage

Any and all incidents can still be reported by calling 911 or Washtenaw Metro Dispatch’s non-emergency dispatch number, (734) 994-2911, or in person at any of our Community Police Stations.

The online reporting portal can be accessed through the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office website: https://www.washtenaw.org/3439/File-a-Police-Report
