Changes at the Clinton Library
submitted by Clinton Township Public Library
The Clinton Library is in for some major changes, starting in February!
If there is one constant in life, it’s that things are always changing. And Clinton Library is in the midst of a season of change.
Tamara Denby, the Library Director, has announced she has accepted a position at another public library and will be leaving the Clinton Library as of February 10. From her statement, published on the library’s website, she says, “I leave the library with great confidence in the amazing Clinton Library staff, knowing that they are capable of much more than merely overcoming any hurdles that might come up in the future; they have the skills and determination to soar over them.” Denby’s full statement can be found on the library’s website.
The library will be accepting applications for the Library Director position until February 6 at 5pm, and the library board welcomes anyone interested in the position to apply. A job description and posting with further details on the how-to’s and when’s can be found on the library’s website (clinton.lib.mi.us).
In the interim, the library staff will do its best to provide all the services and programs you have come to love at the library, including storytimes, book clubs, weekly T(w)een Times, Pokémon and Chess Clubs, Family Game Night, and more. Special programming in February includes a no-weave basket craft (Feb. 7 at 5:30pm and Feb. 10 at noon) and Summer Camp at the Library on Feb. 21 at 4pm. They encourage you to check the library’s event page on the website for more information about these programs and more.
The library has also published its Year in Review report, boasting program attendance exceeding 9,000 participants, more than 23,000 items checked out, and over 22,000 patron visits to the library in 2022. The library also made some major investments in its building and equipment in 2022, including the purchase of a new water pump, six new furnaces, and a tank-free water heater. Further improvements and maintenance are already in the works for 2023.
The new year is definitely a time of both exciting and challenging changes, but the Clinton Library staff continues to be grateful for the opportunity to serve you in 2023 and beyond! In the words of our esteemed leader, “It is (our) hope that you will continue to use your library, support your library, and love your library.”
In addition to using the Manchester District Library, Manchester and Bridgewater Township residents can get a library card for free to check out materials from the Clinton Township Library. Additionally, everyone is welcome to attend all library events. The Clinton Township Library is located at 100 Brown St in Clinton. Questions? Call (517) 456-4141.
