Village seeking to fill two office positions
by Marsha Chartrand
The Village of Manchester is looking for two good people.
After 21 years serving as Village Clerk, Julie Schaible has been planning to retire from her full time position in the Village Office as of the end of March. The original plan had been to back-fill this position with front-desk Account Clerk Jessica Kraft, who had been informally trained to succeed Schaible in the Clerk’s role. The Village would then seek a new “Deputy Clerk” to replace Kraft’s position.
However, the best-laid plans don’t always account for life changes.
Kraft recently married and moved further away from Manchester. Her family also has grown and she has re-evaluated whether she can take on the long-term commitment of the Village Clerk’s job. The Village’s loss is her family’s gain, as she will be managing her husband’s business and caring for their children from closer to home, beginning Feb. 28.
“We’re deeply saddened,” said Michael Sessions, Village Manager. “Both Julie and Jessica will be missed as integral parts of the team here at the village offices. But we will now seek to fill both the Clerk and Deputy Clerk’s positions, starting Feb. 21.”
Sessions added that Schaible has offered to remain on a limited part-time basis for a while longer, if needed to help support the new employees as needed, as they adapt to their respective positions.
