MCS hires John Wilkins as new Athletic Director

Superintendent Dr. Brad Bezeau announced last week the hiring of a new athletic director. He stated, “The Manchester Community Schools proudly announces the hiring of John Wilkins as our new Athletic Director. John was approved to be the new Athletic Director and Dean of Students at Manchester Jr./Sr. High School at the January 23, 2023, Regular Board of Education Meeting.”
Wilkins, who began his teaching career in 1990 in the Manchester Community Schools, has taught Social Studies here for 33 years. He attended Spring Arbor College, where he played basketball, and graduated from Eastern Michigan University.
He has many years of coaching on his resume as well, including 14 years as varsity girls basketball coach at Manchester, five years varsity boys basketball coach at Manchester, eight years varsity golf coach at Manchester, six years as middle school girls basketball coach at Manchester, another four years coaching JV boys basketball split between Manchester and East Jackson, and five seasons coaching JV girls basketball split between Western High School and Lumen Christi High School. He has served as an MHSAA Official for more than 25 years.
Wilkins has a wife, Susie; daughters, Kaite and Cara; son-in-law, Kurt; and grandchildren, Zoie and Maddy. He is looking forward to taking this next step in the great tradition of Manchester athletics.
