Dance Masters of Michigan attend solo title event competition

Competition team dancers from Dance With Heart Studio competed in January at Dance Masters of Michigan.

Dance With Heart Studios sent eight dancers from our competition team to Dance Masters of Michigan Solo Title Event. Though we are incredibly proud of all of our competitors, the following students received notable awards.

Dancer Ethan Anderson, 12, son of Pete Anderson and Sarah Noveskey Anderson from Manchester, proudly represented Dance With Heart Studios at the 2023 Dance Masters of Michigan Solo Title Competition. This is a merit-based competition that provides scholarships, educational training, and performance opportunities to dance students ages 9–19 from around the state of Michigan. Ethan and the rest of the DWHS competitors traveled to Piazza Dance Company in Northville as well as Thurston High School in Redford Township to compete and perform.

Mr. Anderson performed a Musical Theater solo to “You’ll Be Back,” choreographed by Dance With Heart Studios owner/director Miss Anya Noveskey and studio teacher Miss Cara Noveskey. Ethan won the title of Teen Mister Dance of Michigan 2023. Ethan also won the essay portion of the teen competition. Congratulations! Ethan will go on to represent Dance Masters of Michigan Chapter 4 by competing in Dance Masters of America’s national competition in Atlanta, Georgia, this coming July.

Dancer Emily Willett, 18, daughter of Jon and Hillary Willett from Sand Creek, proudly represented Dance With Heart Studios, competing in the Miss Dance of Michigan portion of the same competition. Miss Willett performed a Lyrical solo to “Trying,” choreographed by Dance With Heart Studios owner/director Miss Anya Noveskey. Congratulations, Emily, on the following accomplishments: Miss Top 8, overall top score in ballet audition class, and Miss Dance first runner-up!

Dancer Maggie McCutchan, 11, daughter of Andy McCutchan and Noelia Burciaga from Adrian, also proudly represented Dance With Heart Studios at the 2023 Dance Masters of Michigan Solo Title Competition. Miss McCutchan competed in the Junior Miss portion of the Solo Title competition and performed a Jazz solo to “Part of Me,” which was choreographed by Dance With Heart Studios owner/director Miss Anya Noveskey. Congratulations, Maggie, on the following accomplishments: Junior Top 7, overall top score in acrobatics audition class, and Junior Miss Dance first runner-up!

Dancer Sydney Cunningham, 14, daughter of Derek and Deb Cunningham of Tecumseh, proudly represented Dance With Heart Studios, competing in the Teen Miss Dance of Michigan portion of the same competition. Miss Cunningham received the overall top score in the interview segment of 2023 Dance Masters of Michigan Solo Title Competition. Congratulations!
