Manchester Community Schools Foundation needs your help!
submitted by Shea VanVuuren, Manchester Community Schools Foundation
Over the last several years many Manchester volunteer organizations have disbanded due to lack of participation. The Manchester Community Schools Foundation may be on the same path. All of the current Trustees have been serving for many years and only one Trustee still has a child in the district. This child graduates in May.
Over half of the current Trustees are employees of the school district and technically are not supposed to hold an office, but there is no one else to complete the needed tasks. The Foundation is putting out one last call for new volunteers to help us continue our mission. If new volunteers cannot be found, the current board will begin the process of granting all of the funds in our possession for the betterment of the district and then the Foundation will be no more.
If you would like to learn more about the Manchester Community Schools Foundation you may visit our website at https://sites.google.com/site/foundationmanchester/
In addition to our primary focus of funding grants for classroom projects and district innovations, the Foundation provides the following:
- Annual $1,000 scholarship to a Student of the Month
- Administration of several local scholarships by serving as the pass-through and selection committee
- Fun family events like the Student–Special Adult dances and trips to Alber Orchard
Our meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month during the school year at 6:30pm. We meet in the Synergy Center at Klager. If you are interested in joining us or learning more about the Foundation, please join us for a meeting or email us at manchestertrivia@gmail.com.
We would also like to take this opportunity to announce the date and theme of this year’s Student–Special Adult Dance. We will be “Dancing Through Time” on Saturday, May 20, 2023. If you like, come dressed in threads from your favorite decade.
