Manchester Jr./Sr. High School’s February 2023 Senior Student of the Month is Sarah De Zwaan. Sarah is the daughter of Keith and Teri De Zwaan. She has been an active member of student council for six years and was elected president both junior and senior year. Sarah was also elected to be her class secretary. Additionally, she works as a manager in the Dutch Den.

Sarah ran track and cross country as an underclassman. Her 2021 team qualified for states and ran at Michigan International Speedway. That same year, she was recognized as academic all state.

Sarah dedicates her time to the community by teaching Sunday school at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bridgewater. She has been leading kids through their faith journey since her confirmation in 2019.

After high school, Sarah’s intentions are to attend a university where her forty college credits will transfer. After attaining an undergraduate degree in criminal justice she would like to attend law school and become a prosecutor.

The Manchester Community School Foundation (MCSF) recognizes one student from each grade, each month as student of the month. Senior students of the month are invited to provide more information for a profile in the Mirror and will be recognized at an appreciation dinner held in the MCSF in the spring for the seniors who are chosen as students of the month during the school year. MCSF also offers a $1,000 scholarship for which only senior students of the month are eligible to apply.
