Meet Brittany Kuhnle, new Village Clerk

Brittany Kuhnle is training to become the new Village Clerk as Julie Schaible, who has served since 2001, retires from the position.

When it became evident in early March that the Village of Manchester was going to need to find two people to work in the front office, an all-out search for replacements for long-time employees Julie Schaible and Jessica Kraft began.

Because these specialized positions need people with unique skills, Village Manager Michael Sessions was concerned it might be difficult and time consuming to fill those jobs with just the right employees. He was pleasantly surprised to find out that many of the traits that would be highly valued in the Village Clerk job could be filled by Brittany Kuhnle, who lives just down the road in Adrian.

“I’m originally from St. John’s Michigan,” she explains, “and have previous experience in Equalization through Clinton County and the Clinton County Assessors Association.”

Having moved to Adrian more recently, she was pleased to find a job closer to home that could accommodate her experience and interest in local government, without a lengthy commute. “I love local government,” she says. “Although I previously worked at the County level, I knew I would enjoy being in a position that is closer to the community.”

And, so far, Brittany says, she has had a “wonderful experience” at her new job in Manchester. “The community is beautiful, and everyone that I have met has been extremely kind and welcoming. My favorite part so far has been meeting the staff, council, and residents.

“I see myself hopefully learning as much as possible in order to be an asset to the Village and its residents.”

During the school year, Brittany stays very busy with her four children and their sports and other activities. During the summer, the family loves camping all around the state of Michigan.

While she knows that having two brand-new faces in the front office at Village Hall will be a big change for residents, she wants everyone to know that she and her new colleague, KC Clegg, are both looking forward to helping and learning as much as they can to make this as seamless a transition as possible.
