Manchester Community Schools held their first art show since 2019 at the Manchester District Library (MDL) last week, culminating in a public reception Friday evening. Featuring art from students in grades young 5s–12, there was, as one attendee put it, “art in every square foot of the library and that it was incredible to see all the work from all of our students, from youngest to oldest.”
This year’s art show was the work of the district’s two new art teachers, Isabella Lehrer and Ann Townsend-Zhu. Kathy Dimond, director of the MDL, stated, “Towsend-Zhu and Lehrer combined a collection of incredible themes geared to the different age groups, and the results were amazing.”
She continued, “The reception on Friday evening was exciting, we felt we had around 400 people in a 2 hour period, with comments that were exceptionally positive. We are delighted anytime we can partner with the schools to present to the community the accomplishments of the students.”
Dimond wishes to thank the volunteers who made cookies, brownies and more for the event, and the staff who stayed to help. Reports were that the refreshments at the reception were delicious!
