Village of Manchester seeks new water/wastewater treatment operator

The Village of Manchester is looking for a new employee at the Drinking Water / Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Village Manager Michael Sessions regretfully announced last week that Jon Chandler, who has worked for the village for the past three years, has given his notice and accepted an incredible opportunity with the Lenawee County Drain Commission as a Wastewater Treatment Operator. This position is closer to home for Jon, as Jon lives near the Michigan/Ohio border. “We wish Jon the best of luck in the future,” Sessions concluded.

This again leaves the village with an opening in a critical position, which they will attempt to fill as promptly as possible.

The job of the Drinking Water/ Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is to perform routine lab tests and analysis and maintenance to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Drinking Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants. The Operator works under the supervision of the Drinking Water/ Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Supervisor and the Village Manager.

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties: (These examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform.)
• Lab Analysis — Performing regulatory and process control lab analysis; Routine and regular operational control of plant processes based on interpretation of lab data; Routine laboratory testing and data collection for water systems; Keeps current lab inventory.
• Village Responsibilities — Regular and required communication with Supervisor and other employees of the Village; Responsible for the Preventative Maintenance Program and scheduled plant maintenance; Lab up-keep and general house-keeping of lab and treatment facilities.
• Other Duties — Respond to emergency calls (be on call during evenings, weekends, and holidays); Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; Assist and coordinate with DPW when needed.
• Safety — Responsible for proper use of equipment in the laboratory as well as the treatment facilities; Maintains First Aid and safety equipment.

Employment Qualifications include:

• Possess the ability to work toward Michigan Waste Water D License
• Possess the ability work toward Michigan Distribution (S-3) and Limited Treatment (D-3) Drinking Water Licenses
• Current Michigan Driver’s License
• Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with supervisors and other employees
• Must be able to lift 125 lbs.
