On May 10, in part five of the eight part series of Desserts through the Decades, Chef Keegan from The Lakehouse Bakery shared the story of the Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest 17 in 1966 in which Ella Helfrich from Houston, Texas mysteriously baked a “tunnel of fudge” filling in her cake. It became a huge hit, and a very popular dessert in the 60s. After sharing this iconic story, Keegan presented the class with a “Tunnel of Fudge” cake for us all to taste the 60s.

Don’t worry if you missed it. There are still three more classes that will cover desserts from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.  These classes are hosted by the Manchester District Library, and brought to the community at no charge because of the generous support from Worth Repeating. Classes take place on Wednesday at 4pm in the Village Room, on the lower level of 912 City Road. All ages welcome.

The desserts from the 70s will be featured on May 24, desserts from the the 80s will be featured on June 7, and our final class on June 14 will feature desserts from the 90s.

Advance registration for this free event is requested. Sign up at the circulation desk, by phone at (734)428-8045, or use the online registration form.
