Do your kids want to try golf, but you don’t have golfing equipment? How about fishing but you aren’t sure they’ll like it and don’t want to make the investment before they try it? Or maybe it is a Saturday and they want to play basketball, football or baseball, and no one can find the ball?

Manchester Wellness Center, located at 710 East Main Street (in the building behind Riverside Intermediate School), has a library of sports equipment that can be checked out for free by any kid in the community, whether or not they attend Manchester Community Schools. The collection of equipment is called the Sport Port!

In order to check-out equipment, stop by the Manchester Wellness Center Mondays through Fridays from 6am – noon and 3-7pm, or on Saturdays from 7-11am, year-round. To sign-out equipment, a parent or guardian must accompany their student to the Wellness Center and present a Michigan Driver’s License or State Identification. All previously borrowed equipment must be returned before additional items can be signed out. Equipment check-out period is 30 days but it can also be renewed (just like a library book!)

Sport Port equipment was donated by 5 Healthy Towns.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
