20th Annual Kieb Memorial Golf Outing
by Sara Swanson
The Manchester High School Music Program is holding its 20th Annual Kieb Memorial Golf Outing, which is a fundraiser benefiting Manchester High School music students. Enjoy golfing and raise money for a good cause while remembering MHS drumline instructor Christopher Kieb on Wednesday, July 8, at 9am at Brookside Golf Club, located at 6451 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd in Saline.
To register, visit https://forms.gle/K5pD4zGDz8D5xe1h8. Register as an individual golfer for $80 or a team of 4 golfers for $320. Registration is open through July 1. Organizers are also looking for hole sponsors, prize hole sponsors, and donations. Please contact Jared Throneberry at (734) 320-7024 for sponsorship questions or any general questions regarding the event.
The golf outing was established in 2004 as a tribute after Kieb’s sudden death. The scholarship funded by the outing is awarded to a graduating student from the MHS band program who participates in a collegiate music program (not necessarily as a music major). More than $21,000 has been awarded so far.
Kieb attended Eastern Michigan University and participated and performed with the EMU Marching Band as a member of the Drumline, performed with the Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi (National Band Fraternity, dedicated to service for the university band). Each summer for eight years, Kieb used his vacation time from his job to work with the Manchester High School Marching Band as the Percussion and Marching instructor.
