Even late in the season, there is still much to see at the Manchester Farmers Market!

The Manchester Farmers Market has had a good transitional season back at Chi-Bro Park, but with changing temperatures and dwindling light expected in October, the vendors and market staff have made a decision to end their outdoor market this year at the end of September (Thursday, September 28, will be the last day).

“I am open to suggestions,” said Dana Turner-Queen, who has served tirelessly this spring and summer as the director of the farmers market. Dana has breathed a lot of energy into the market with new ideas and innovations. “Some of those ideas have stuck to the wall,” she admits with a smile, “while others may not have.”

It hasn’t kept her from trying! Each week, she and her small core of vendors have been on site, laden with crafts, baked goods, produce, a little bit of music, games and prizes for everyone to enjoy, and plenty of smiles for all who show up.

Those who attend the market each week are able to find the freshest local produce, eggs, honey, baked goods, crafts, and more! Live music, a weekly treasure hunt, and activities have given the community an opportunity to enjoy all that summer has had to offer.

The CRC has had a booth nearly every week at the market and are collecting food for their Weekend Meals program for needy kids. Please leave donations at the info booth. You can also sign up for the Wooden Nickel program and FMR coupons.

As many as 20 different vendors have attended the Farmers Market this summer, although not all on the same day. Each vendor’s attendance is subject to scheduling. With continued growth and energy, the manager and directors look forward to a great year again next year at Chi-Bro!

The manager and board apologize for any inconvenience because of the early closure but want each and every market patron to know how much they are appreciated. Be sure to come down over the next two weeks to get your baked goods, farm-fresh produce, flowers, and more!

Look out for an end-of-year survey soon — they will be back for 2024.
