Irma Louise Weidmayer, 102, of Manchester, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
On January 12, 1921, when it was still “horse and buggy days,” she was born in her family’s home on Lindemann Road in Lodi Township. The first born of five children to Joseph and Emma (Stollsteimer) Lindemann, she is the last of the remaining family members. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Saline on April 14, 1935. She met her future husband, Armin C. Weidmayer, at a dance at the Pittsfield Grange Hall and six months later they were married on February 12, 1942, at her family home in Lodi Township. For one month after the wedding they lived with her parents while they prepared their home in Bridgewater Township. They were married 58 years, until Armin’s passing on November 25, 2000.
Irma was an active member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Manchester where she was involved in Women’s Fellowship, Sunday School, Bible Study Group, and, together with her husband, Youth Advisors. They were also active members of the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau and attended many local, state, and national conventions together. Additionally, she enjoyed her Extension group, Bible Study group, and Manchester Senior Citizens.
In her early years she was in charge of the chickens on the family farm where she fed them, washed the eggs, and delivered them to many Manchester residents. She loved to cook and in later years she did cross-stitch, embroidery, and quilting. She was very talented and shared a lot of her beautiful handiwork with her family. Over the past decade, she lived a life of gratitude for her health and her family.
