The Digital Dislocators traveled to Zeeland East High School on Saturday to compete in their final event of the year at the West Michigan Robotics Invitational with 31 other FIRST Robotics teams from around the state. WMRI is one of many off-season events that are held each year, where teams are able to continue to compete in that year’s challenge.

After qualification matches, the Digital Dislocators had a perfect record of 4–0 and were ranked second out of 32 teams. They became the captain of the #2 alliance alongside their partners, 27 | Team Rush from Clarkston, 7211 | Hollywood from Holly, and 6114 | Hamilton Cyber Hawks from Hamilton.

The alliance was able to sweep through the playoff matches, winning against the #1 alliance in a double-elimination bracket to make it to the finals, where they again faced the #1 alliance in a best of three match. The first match resulted in a 167–147 point win for the Manchester alliance but the second match was unfortunately a 153–171 loss, forcing a tiebreaker match. Both alliances suffered various mechanical failures during the finals, but in the end, the Digital Dislocators along with their alliance partners emerged victorious, winning the tiebreaker and the event with a score of 179–138!

While the high school team may be done with events for the year, our middle school team, The Flying Dutchbots, are nearing the end of build season and will be competing very soon!

The Manchester FIRST Robotics program would also like to give a huge shout-out to our entire community for all of their support. We are so thankful to everyone who allows us to continue to provide hands-on STEAM opportunities within our community!
