WCSO — September 2023 report of police services in the village
as submitted to Village of Manchester by Lt. Alan Hunt
During the month of September 2023 there were 127 calls for service. During this time, 66 traffic stops were made, resulting in 23 citations.
Noteworthy events in Manchester Village during September include:
On September 1, a Collaboration Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of W Main Street and N Washington Street. The driver had a handgun in their possession with an expired CPL license. The firearm was confiscated and charges are being sought through the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s office.
On September 25, a Collaboration Deputy responded to the 600 block of E Duncan Street for a report of a Peeping Tom. The complainant was approached by an unknown Caucasian male prior to entering their home. Shortly after the complainant entered their home, they noticed the subject looking through a bedroom window. A K-9 track was conducted along with assistance from other Deputies, but the suspect could not be located at that time. Sgt. Gebauer reported at Village Council’s October 16 meeting that some leads were still being followed and a suspect may yet be identified.
Ordinance violations: Deputies followed up on two grass ordinance violations. A notice of correction was left at a property in the 400 block of Madison Street. A property in the 500 block of City Road was resolved by Village DPW staff mowing the property. A blight vehicle was noted in the 100 block of S Washington Street; a letter was sent to the owner.
The Sheriff’s Office has recently implemented an online police-reporting portal. Citizens can now file certain types of police reports online without needing contact with a deputy or to come into a station. The following types of incidents may be filed online:
- Harassing phone calls/no known suspects
- Identity theft/no known suspects
- Lost property
- Larceny/theft/no known suspects
- Damaged property/vandalism
- Accidental/non-intentional property damage
Any and all incidents can still be reported by calling 911; Washtenaw Metro Dispatch’s non-emergency dispatch number, (734) 994-2911; or in person at any of our Community Police Stations.
The online reporting portal can be accessed through the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office website at: https://www.washtenaw.org/3439/File-a-Police-Report
