Millie’s Coffeehouse, located at 227 East Main St, is collecting winter-wear donations for veterans from now into December. They are collecting new (or gently used AND CLEAN) outerwear — coats, hats (preferably new), gloves, scarves, sweaters, sweatshirts, pants, socks, boots, shoes, and blankets (new only). Donations can be left in the box inside the coffeeshop. They will also accept monetary donations.

Anna Deevers, owner of Millie’s Coffeehouse, explained, “We’re working with the nonprofit Veterans Resource Center in Detroit. All donations will be hand delivered directly to those in need at the ‘Warm Your Belly Event’ in Detroit, which encompasses a delicious hot food meal to warm them up inside while all of our donations warm them on the outside.”

Because the Manchester District Library, located at 912 City Rd, has longer hours, they’ve agreed to also serve as a drop-off location for donations. If donating at the library, bring items to the front desk and let the librarian know you are donating it for the Millie’s Coffeehouse warm weather drive for veterans.

Deevers added, “In addition to this, Millie’s Coffeehouse always offers veterans a 10% discount on all orders as well as our police officers.”

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
