The trees are freshly cut, the fire is lit, and Stas Schebella is ready to sell you a Christmas tree to benefit the Men’s Club projects in Manchester.

If you thought November 15 was an important “opening day,” you haven’t been paying attention to the real Opening Day here in Manchester.

Black Friday — the day after Thanksgiving — has become the traditional opening day for the Men’s Club Christmas Tree sale, and once again in 2023 it was a great success, with 56 of their 240 trees sold on that day alone.

Men’s Club member Stas Schebella started off Saturday morning with a handful of tree sales, but he realized that for a few hours at least, it would be a quiet afternoon during the Michigan/Ohio State football game.

“We may get a few people come in at halftime,” he said with a grin, “but most of them will come in after the game. We should sell quite a few trees then, and maybe get some additional donations.”

He explained that a lot of people will “pay it forward” and make a donation to ensure a family in need gets a tree. And in the end, that’s what’s important — that every family who needs and wants a tree, gets a tree. And if you live nearby, you can even qualify for home delivery of your Christmas tree!

The time is Monday through Friday, 5–8pm, Saturdays, 9am–5pm; and Sundays, 12–5pm. The place is Chi-Bro Park on Ann Arbor Hill, and the price is a very reasonable $45 per tree. Don’t miss out — trees sell out fast, and when they are gone, they’re gone!

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
