The Food Pantry Face-Off … is on!
by Marsha Chartrand
For several years now, Horning Farms has worked hard to give back to the local community with their locally grown farm products.
This year, they are putting a new spin on their traditional ground-beef donation program. Five local food pantries are in a fun, friendly competition to receive donations of ground beef from the Horning Farm Shop: Manchester CRC, Chelsea/Dexter Faith in Action, Food Gatherers, Saline Area Social Services, and St. Louis Center. People can donate $5 and Horning Farms will donate one pound of ground beef.
“At the end of the year,” explained Katelyn Packard, “whichever organization has the most donations, Horning Farms will do a one-to-one donation match.”
This is a great way to support local farmers as well as support the worthy organizations that help feed those who are in need. Not to mention, to make sure your neighbors are fed at this time of year.
Carol Wotring, director of the Manchester CRC, says the organization is always grateful for what they receive from Horning Farms’ ground-beef donations. If you select the Manchester CRC from the drop-down menu on the link below, you are helping the Manchester community in all three ways! You can choose to give one pound, 10 pounds, or more of meat to help your neighbors who take advantage of the food pantry.
