WCCD celebrates 76 years at upcoming annual meeting

Join the Washtenaw County Conservation District (WCCD) in celebrating 76 years of conservation work in Washtenaw County at the Ypsilanti Freighthouse in Ypsilanti (100 Market Pl, Ypsilanti, MI) on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 5:30pm. The evening will feature a keynote presentation by Naim Edwards, Director of MSU — Detroit Partnership for Food, Learning, and Innovation, on urban agriculture and community resilience. Several key community leaders will receive conservation awards, and a snapshot of upcoming conservation district programming will be provided. Dinner will be provided by Angel Food, Inc. Mr. Edwards’ keynote presentation will highlight urban design flaws that promote incompatibility with human well-being and how urban agriculture techniques may provide solutions. Mr. Edwards will also discuss how edible forests can play a role in addressing various community needs within cities, highlighting his work in Detroit.
Absentee ballots for the 2024 District Director election are now available at the WCCD office (705 Zeeb Rd, Ann Arbor, MI) or by request. All Washtenaw County residents, 18 years of age and older, are eligible to vote in the district election. All absentee ballots must be submitted by 12pm on January 18 or during the annual meeting. Proof of residency is required with submission of ballot. Visit the WCCD’s website for information about director candidates and instructions on how to participate in the election.
