During the month of January there were 176 calls for service in the City of Manchester. During this time, 88 traffic stops were made, resulting in 23 citations.

Noteworthy events in the City of Manchester during the month included:

  • On January 13, a Collaboration Deputy responded to the 500 block of E Main Street for a report of a Fraud. The complainant reported that while on Facebook, a “pop-up” ad appeared and they were not able to close it out. Ultimately it advised them that they had to purchase Apple gift cards and send the card numbers to “Jason.” $600 in gift cards were wired to “Jason.” At this time, it is unknown who Jason is.
  • On January 24, a Collaboration Deputy responded to the 500 block of Galloway Drive for a report of a Fraud. The complainant was instructed to purchase Apple gift cards and send the card information to the unknown suspect, and later learned that the money had been wired to China. At this time it’s unknown who the suspect is who convinced her to send gift cards.
  • Ordinance violations — 7: All were for snow and tags were issued: 300 and 500 blocks of W Main Street; 100 block of S Macomb Street; two violations in the 300 block of Territorial Road; 300 block of Baker Street; and the 600 block of City Road.

The Sheriff’s Office has recently implemented a new, online police-reporting portal. Citizens can now file certain types of police reports online without needing contact with a deputy or coming in to a station. The following types of incidents may be filed online:

  • Harassing phone calls/No known suspects
  • Identity theft/No known suspects
  • Lost property
  • Larceny/Theft/No known suspects
  • Damaged property/Vandalism
  • Accidental/Non-intentional property damage

Any and all incidents can still be reported by calling 911; Washtenaw Metro Dispatch’s non-emergency dispatch number, (734) 994-2911; or in person at any of our Community Police Stations.

The online reporting portal can be accessed through the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office website at: https://www.washtenaw.org/3439/File-a-Police-Report
