Obituary: Robert Alwin Gross
Robert Alwin Gross, 80, of Manchester, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater, Mich. Robert’s family and friends gathered from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Eineder Funeral Homes — Manchester Chapel. His funeral service was held at 11am, Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. James United Church of Christ, 11005 W Michigan Ave, Saline, MI 48176. Pastor Case served as celebrant.
He was born on November 27, 1943, in Saline, Mich., to Alwin and Genevieve (Camburn) Gross. Robert graduated from Saline High School in 1961. He attended two years of college at Ferris State, until he was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. Robert married Marianna “Mary” Carolyn Raymond, on February 2, 1980. He was the proud owner of Gross Farm Equipment for over 20 years. Robert was a member of St. James Church of Saline and a member of the Rotary Club. He will be remembered as an avid sports fan who enjoyed all of the Michigan teams. Robert loved spending time with his family and friends on the Coldwater chain of lakes. He loved traveling with his wife, Mary. Robert will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert is survived by his spouse, Mary Gross; his step-children, Jeffrey Butts and Julie (Randy) Armiak; sister, Connie Gonser; granddaughter, Peyton Armiak; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alwin and Genevieve Gross; sister, Collene Richter; brother-in-law, Mac Gonser; niece, Debbie Paschen; and great-nephew, Alex Ahrens.
