Obituary: Thomas Ridley Huber
Thomas Ridley Huber, 69, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, peacefully at home with his loving family by his side after a lengthy illness. Tom’s family and friends will have a celebration of life, Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 2pm to 5pm at the Manchester Sportsman Club, 8501 Grossman Rd, Manchester, Mich., 48158.
He was born on September 13, 1954, in Jackson, Mich., to Robert and Yvonne (Merriman) Huber. Tom married the love of his life, Judy Oliver, in 1992 in Manchester, Mich. They had over 30 wonderful years together, until her passing in 2023. He will be remembered for his love of life and enjoying entertaining family and friends. Tom loved to have a good time. He is a graduate of Manchester High School, class of 1972. Tom owned the Irish Hills Meats and Hubie’s Jerky Store for many years. He was affectionately known to family and friends as “Hubie,” “Grandpa Tom,” and “Uncle Tom.” Tom enjoyed cooking, especially his famous prime rib and jerky. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, his namesakes being Ridley Jean Huber and Thomas James Larson, who proudly carry on his name. Tom’s family would like to thank Gene Kemeter, who generously donated his kidney so Tom could be with them for 14 more years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is survived by his step-sons, Geoffrey (Cheryl) Oliver and Reid (Amy) Oliver; siblings, Robert (Wendi) Huber and sister-in-law, Sheri Huber; grandchildren, Natasha (Kyle Nadolski) Oliver, Elexis (Jose Martinez) Oliver, Madison (Sebastian) Trout, Cody Oliver, Kyla (Garrett) Marion, and Ella (Jesse Wood) Oliver; great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Liam, Mason, and Grace; nieces, Krysta (Sam Pope) Huber and Karli Huber; nephews, Ben (Sage) Huber and Jared (Sarah) Huber; and great-nieces and -nephews, Arden, Lelah, Easton, Everhett, and Ridley Huber. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith Huber; brother, Jan Huber; aunts Joan Walz and Margaret Lee Huber, and a nephew, Jason Huber.
