Meghan (MJ) Somerville represented Manchester High School Girls’ Varsity Soccer in the second annual MIHSSCA Girls’ All-Star Soccer tournament on July 20, 2024. Organized by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association (MIHSSCA) and played in East Lansing, the tournament consisted of four teams representing various regions from across the state of Michigan. Somerville played on the region-3 team together with all-state, class of 2024 players from Ann Arbor, Livonia, Northville, Holt, Plymouth, Okemos, Grosse Pointe, Grosse Ile, Ovid-Elsie, and St. Johns. Somerville’s team won the first game 3–2 over region-1, and the second game 1–0 over region-4. With the two wins, region-3 was the overall tournament champion. “It was an exciting and humbling experience to play with such great players from across the state. I was happy to represent Manchester and be part of the championship team,” said Somerville following the tournament. “It was a great way to wrap up my high school soccer career and I got a free T-shirt.”
