Free fall Senior Fit classes in Manchester
by Sara Swanson
This summer Manchester seniors had a new, twice-weekly, free exercise class right here in the City. Trinity Health, the sponsor of the class, announced last week that it will continue this fall!
Senior Fit classes are Wednesday and Friday at 10am in the Village Room (lower level, 912 City Rd). Classes will run through the last week of December (with no class on Christmas Day). They are tailored for seniors, ages 55+, to help reduce the risk of falling and provide a framework for a healthier lifestyle. It is being offered at no cost as a gift to the senior community by Trinity Health, the parent company of Chelsea Hospital.
Class participants will be doing calisthenics, weight training, and balance training and should wear comfortable clothes. Some of the benefits of the Senior Fit include: increased heart health, increased bone-mineral density, increased balance, increased ability to perform activities of daily life, increased ability to navigate the community more safely, and increased ability to play with family with reduced pain and fatigue.
