MHS names September 2024 Students of the Month
submitted by Carla Zygner, MHS Student of the Month coordinator
In September, the School Improvement Team at Manchester Junior/Senior High School (MHS) voted to try something new in regard to Student of the Month. Instead of having staff members nominate students, the team (which is made up of both students and staff) decided to try having students nominate themselves, sharing what they believe makes them worthy of the title. They implemented this plan immediately, and the results were largely positive, with many students sharing things that make them amazing — including things they do outside of school, which staff members would never have been aware of on their own.
The Manchester Junior/Senior High School Students of the Month for September are:
Seventh grader Nathalya Brown has demonstrated kindness, empathy, patience, and authenticity. Nathalya participates in the cheer team and always tries to help others.
The eighth grade student of the month, Charlotte Williams, is also on the cheer team, in addition to cross country, SRSLY, the Chelsea Area Players, and yearbook. Charlotte works hard to maintain good grades while balancing her many extracurricular activities.
Freshman Madilyn Bennett always tries to show kindness and empathy toward others. She is a good leader and an active participant in the school improvement team, student council, and volleyball.
Sophomore Harper Doyle helps out wherever he can, both in and out of school. He tries to be a good role model and has worked hard to get good grades this year. Harper is a member of both the cross-country team and the school improvement team.
The Junior Student of the Month, Drew Berner, always tries to treat others how he would like to be treated. He has kept up with his schoolwork and demonstrates kindness toward others.
Senior Lila Harvey encourages others to always do their best. She is a good role model to others, especially the younger generation of Dutchmen students. She juggles academics, athletics, extracurriculars, and work while still having fun.
