Edward Jones office reaches out to community for pet charity drive
by Marsha Chartrand
Edward Jones’ office on Main Street is once again assisting pets at the Humane Society of Huron Valley this year as part of their Day of Caring, and they’re hoping that the Manchester community can help out, too!
This is the second annual Day of Caring that Tammy James, Senior Branch Administrator, has participated in, and it won’t be her last! Tammy is happy to work for a company who gives its employees a paid “Day of Caring” to volunteer for a cause that’s close to her heart.
Last year, “I had a full car of donations to deliver when I spent my Day of Caring service day at the Humane Society of Huron Valley,” she said. “It was an awesome day and the shelter was so grateful for all of the towels, blankets, food, and other items that I was able to take with me!”
A drop box is available in the lobby to begin accepting donations of any of the listed items below.
- Gently used or new bath towels (The bigger, the better! Washcloths are okay, but please, no hand towels.)
- Small blankets and pet beds that can be laundered in a normal washing machine and flat sheets
- Pet food in the original bag/can up to 3 months after the expiration date
- Scoopable cat litter
- Canned dog food (They love the Pedigree yellow cans with ground meat!)
- Waterless pet shampoo, alcohol (must be 70% CLEAR alcohol — no scent)
- Liquid Vicks solution (for steam vaporizers)
- Yards of fleece for animal projects
- Ziploc bags — both gallon and quart sizes
- Gift cards from places like Amazon.com, pet supply stores, and office supply stores
Please consider dropping off a donation of any of these items, starting any time and through the first two weeks of December, when Tammy expects to be dropping off another large carload of treats and helpful items at the shelter. The boxes will be well used by the pets in need and their caretakers!
