MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL

MORATORIUM ON CITY OF MANCHESTER GOLF CART ORDINANCE

City of Manchester
County of Washtenaw
State of Michigan

At a regular meeting of the Manchester City Council of the City of Manchester, County of Washtenaw, State of Michigan, held in City of Manchester Council Chambers on the 6th day of January 2025, there were:

Present: Chartrand, Dresch, Harvey, LaRocque, Way, Vailliencourt

Absent: DuRussel

The following resolution was offered by Dresch and supported by LaRocque.

WHEREAS, the City of Manchester previously adopted a Golf Cart Ordinance as a Village in 2022; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Manchester’s Golf Cart Ordinance has brought joy to many individuals within the City of Manchester as an alternative form of transportation; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Manchester’s intent is to continue to have a Golf Cart Ordinance, however, in light of this, there are concerns that do need to be addressed and further direction provided with the Golf Cart Ordinance to continue to make it a success within the City of Manchester. NOW,

THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City of Manchester Council is placing on a moratorium on the existing Golf Cart Ordinance through April 7, 2025, at which time a new ordinance will be considered by the City of Manchester’s Council addressing concerns that the Administration Team, City Attorney’s Office, and Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) have with the current ordinance. Adopted this 6th day of January, 2025. Upon vote for the adoption of the resolution, the vote was:

AYES: Chartrand, Dresch, Harvey, LaRocque, Way, Vailliencourt

NAYS:

ABSENT: DuRussel

RESOLUTION DECLARED ADOPTED.
