MAHS offering class on researching your historic home
by Sara Swanson
Are you a resident of Washtenaw County and interested in the history of your old house? Do you want to find out who lived there, their families, and how that intertwines with your communities?
Manchester Area Historical Society (MAHS) is offering a 2–3-hour class on how to do research on your home using online tools and sites to build a full historical biography on Sunday, February 9, from 4pm to 6pm. You’ll also be taught the basics on important terminology, how to read deeds, how to navigate online resources, and ideas for future research. Can’t make this class in February? Don’t worry, a second class is being offered on March 2 at 4pm.
This class is open to all Washtenaw County residents and costs $40 to attend. Current MAHS members may use the discount code emailed to them for a member rate. If you would like to become a member of MAHS and get early notification of classes, events, and membership pricing, please inquire with the instructor or visit MAHSmi.org.
Register for the class on EventBrite.com (search for “Washtenaw County Historic Home”.) The class will be held at the MAHS’ K-J house located at 324 E Main St and will be run by Jaimie Schmidt, a Manchester resident, MAHS board member, and local realtor who specializes in old/historic homes. Please send your questions to Home@JaimieSchmidt.com
