Obituary: Monica Jean Horodeczny
Monica Jean Horodeczny, 70, from Manchester, Mich., passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Mission Point of Jackson from her battle with Parkinson’s disease. Monica’s family and friends will gather from 4pm to 8pm, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with Rosary at 7:30 pm, and from 10–11am, on January 23, 2025, at Eineder Funeral Homes — Manchester Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, on January 23, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester, Mich. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Satheesh Alphonse, SdC will serve as celebrant.
She was born on March 10, 1954, in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Leonard “Chick” and Florence (Schneider) Kirk. Monica married the love of her life, Walter Horodeczny, on November 14, 1975, at St. Mary’s in Manchester, Mich. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1972. Monica obtained a doctorate degree. Her main two jobs were being a mother to her five children and being a business partner with her husband. Monica was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester, Mich., where she taught catechism and sang in the choir. She loved to volunteer at St. Louis Center and participated in prayer chains. Monica loved to spend her falls at Lake Michigan and loved to travel, especially to Europe, Florida, and Texas. In her spare time, she enjoyed photography, reading, movies, and music. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Monica will be missed by her husband, Walter Horodeczny; her children, Hillary (Tim Harvey) Horodeczny, Kirk (Liliana) Horodeczny, Matthew (Jessica) Horodeczny, Kathryn Horodeczny and Holly (Brian Kunzelman) Horodeczny, and Steven (Rebecca) Harvey; her grandchildren, Joshua Horodeczny, Brett Horodeczny, Makenna Horodeczny, Brooke Horodeczny, Dominic Horodeczny, Lionel Horodeczny, Valentina Horodeczny, Lila Harvey, Max Harvey, and Leigha Harvey; and all her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard “Chick” and Florence Kirk; her brother, Norman Lee; and her sister, Susan Periat.
