Elizabeth “Liz” Ann (Hosmer) Wallace
Elizabeth “Liz” Ann (Hosmer) Wallace, born on February 12, 1955, in Tecumseh, Mich., passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, in Chelsea, Mich. She was just 69 years young.
Liz was a remarkable woman who lived with grace, kindness, and an indomitable spirit. She dedicated herself to her family and community, leaving a lasting impression on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a steadfast advocate for the Manchester community, championed veteran causes, and frequently befriended “strays” (both animals and humans). You were always welcome at her home, no questions asked.
Liz had a vibrant personality that lit up every room she entered — she would be horrified that we included this, but it’s true. She was Manchester’s resident cheerleader (and prom queen), creator of the “secret recipe” to the Manchester Community Fair macaroni and cheese, and knew (literally) every single alum of Manchester High School (MHS). She was known for her boundless generosity, high energy, and unwavering love for her community. Liz cared for everyone. She enjoyed collecting all sorts of things (like sparkly Crocs, Jibbitz, and nostalgic-type items), wildlife watching off the back deck (she loved eagles), chatting up her girlfriends over a local lunch (probably at Frank’s), snuggling with her granddaughter while watching old movies in her comfy chair, keeping her Class of 1973 MHS classmates together to support one another, and celebrating the remarkable lives of MHS alumni via the official memorial page on social media. Most importantly, she loved to laugh and live out loud. Liz’s passion for keeping folks connected, well cared for, and loved inspired those around her, and she took immense pride in sharing her heart with others.
Liz was preceded in death by her father, Russell O. Hosmer, mother, Helen J. Hosmer, and sister, Marilyn Hosmer Knouase. She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Patrick (Pat) G. Wallace; her brother, Richard Hosmer; sister Linda Hosmer Christensen; her beloved children, Adrienne A. Wallace (Derek T. DeVries) and Aaron P. Wallace; her cherished “mini-me” granddaughter, Ariana (Ari) Elizabeth Wallace; and many nieces and nephews. Liz’s family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing, supporting, and celebrating them — but she loved being a gramma most of all!
The family invites you to gather informally to celebrate Liz at Eineder Funeral Homes—Manchester Chapel in Manchester, Mich., from 4 to 7pm, on Friday, February 7, with Rosary at 6:30pm. A memorial service to celebrate Liz will be held on Saturday, February 8, at 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester. Her ashes will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Manchester) immediately following Mass.
