There is daily progress being made on the new Senior/Community Center located on the lower level of City Hall, 912 City Rd, and the contractor is planning for an April occupancy date.

“Next week, the schedule is for plumbing and electrical installation,” said senior director Pat Vailliencourt. “After that, things will move pretty quickly with ceiling installation, HVAC, drywall, and finishing carpentry.”

The kitchen equipment has been delivered, the Review Plan for Washtenaw County will be submitted next week, and the seniors have picked out flooring and the paint color. A Kitchen Shower is set for February 22 at the United Methodist Church on Ann Arbor Hill. Gifts are already arriving from Target and Amazon wish lists, according to Vailliencourt. The excitement is building as the opening date gets closer by the day.

“Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves to be sure this isn’t just a dream but is really happening,” Valliencourt said. “Thank you to all who have so generously supported the Center!”
