The Manchester Community Resource Center recently received a generous donation of 99 pounds of ground beef from Horning Farms through their “Meat the Need” Ground Beef Donation Program. This community-supported initiative allows local residents to contribute funds toward ground beef donations, with Horning Farms matching contributions up to 20 pounds.

“Our neighbors who use the pantry absolutely love Horning Farms ground beef,” said Carol Wotring, CRC Executive Director. “Having access to high-quality, locally raised meat makes a significant difference for families in our community.”

Lynda Horning personally delivered the ground beef to CRC last month, demonstrating the farm’s commitment to supporting local hunger relief efforts. As a farm located within CRC’s service area, Horning Farms exemplifies the power of local businesses giving back to their immediate community.

The “Meat the Need” program generated impressive results across the region, with Horning Farms donating over 200 pounds of ground beef to various local organizations, including:

  • 99 lbs. to Manchester Community Resource Center
  • 20 lbs. to Faith In Action – Chelsea/Dexter
  • 20 lbs. to Food Gatherers
  • 24 lbs. to Saline Area Social Service
  • 58 lbs. to St. Louis Center of Chelsea

“We are incredibly grateful for Horning Farms’ support,” Wotring added. “Their generosity helps ensure that our neighbors have access to nutritious protein options that might otherwise be unaffordable.”

The CRC extends its heartfelt thanks to both Horning Farms and the community members who contributed to this important program.
