Manchester to host first Washtenaw County Monthly Veterans Coffee Hour
submitted by Brian Martin, Washtenaw County Department of Veterans Affairs
The Washtenaw County Department of Veterans Affairs is proud to announce the launch of a Monthly Veterans Coffee Hour, an initiative aimed at strengthening connections among local veterans while providing access to vital resources.
The first gathering will take place on April 3, 2025, from 9am to noon at the Manchester Mill, generously donated by Dawn Donnelly. This free event will allow veterans to connect with fellow service members, discuss concerns, and learn about available benefits in an informal, welcoming setting.
The program will rotate locations throughout Washtenaw County, prioritizing outreach to rural and underserved areas. Collaborating with Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, churches, and assisted living facilities, the goal is to ensure that all veterans — regardless of age or location — have access to community, support, and information.
“The overwhelming 75% approval of the Veterans Village demonstrated how deeply this community values and supports its veterans,” said Brian Martin, Veterans Service Officer for Washtenaw County. “We want to continue that spirit of support by bringing veterans together and ensuring they have the resources and camaraderie they deserve.”
Manchester will host at least two sessions annually, with additional locations to be announced. Veterans of all eras are encouraged to attend. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

The Washtenaw County Department of Veterans Affairs is committed to assisting veterans and their families in obtaining benefits, resources, and support. By advocating for those who served, the department ensures veterans receive the care and recognition they deserve.
