Obituary: Lawrence Richard Lehmann

Lawrence Richard Lehmann (January 24, 1949 – March 9, 2025)
Lawrence Richard Lehmann, 76, of Manchester, Mich., passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025. Lawrence’s family and friends will gather from 2pm to 3pm, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Manchester United Methodist Church, 501 Ann Arbor St, Manchester, MI 48158. His funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Manchester United Methodist Church. Pastor Susan Hitts will officiate. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
He was born on January 24, 1949, in Detroit, Mich., to Rae and Dolores (Wood) Lehmann. Lawrence graduated from Manchester High School in 1985. He was a machinist for Nagel Precision for over 20 years. Lawrence proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he was assigned to three different major vessels. He was the former president for the Manchester Senior Citizens, where, even after stepping down, he was still an active member. Lawrence enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, attending the fair, where he loved the tractor pulls, and NASCAR, which he attended numerous times. He was a dedicated member of the Manchester community, where he supported the sports teams, especially football, and volunteered for Senior Meals. Lawrence was a member at Emanuel United and at Manchester Methodist Church. He was a devoted grandfather, who loved spending as much time as possible with his grandkids and helped care for them before and after school. Lawrence was extremely proud of his niece who got a job at the hospital. His family was the most important thing in his life.
Lawrence will be missed by his children, Athena Lehmann and Brittney Bailey; siblings, Ronald (Patty) Lehmann, Richard (Sherri) Lehmann, Mary “Cookie” (Jeff) Maben, Debbie (Pete) Morris, and Lisa (Don) Winrow; his foster sibling, Jan Raab; grandchildren, Jazmene Bailey, Joeseff Bailey, and Jozlynn Bailey; his dear friend Charlene Provey and her sons, Carl and Christopher; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rae and Dolores Lehmann; his brothers, Rae Lehmann and Douglas Lehmann; his best friend, Mary Gardener; and his Navy friend, Larry.
