Spring sports getting underway at Manchester High School

Spring weather is here and so are spring sports at Manchester High School. Teams have already begun practicing for games beginning in early April.

Baseball leads off their season on the road against Dundee on April 5 and Addison on April 7. The Dutchmen begin their home season on Friday, April 11, versus Leslie. The team is looking to build on their solid performance last season, which saw them tie for 2nd place in the Cascades Conference. Head Coach Nick Neihaus returns for his 6th season at the helm.

Softball is gearing up to start their season on the same day as the boys, on the road versus Dundee and Addison. They will begin their home season Friday, April 11, against Leslie. The Lady Dutch will seek to improve on their performance last season where they finished .500 in the Cascades Conference. The varsity squad is led this season by Head Coach Katie McClure.

Varsity track will hit the starting block just down the road at the Napoleon Invitational on Friday, April 11. The boys’ track team finished last season 4–3 in conference matchups and placed 7th at the Cascades Conference meet. The girls’ track team also placed 7th at the conference meet. The track squad is led by head coach Mike Coltre.

Girls’ varsity soccer kicks off their season on the road at Lenawee Christian Schools in Adrian before a pair of home games on April 9 against Leslie and April 11 versus Napoleon. The team won the Cascades Conference last season and this year look to build on that success. The Lady Dutch are led by Coach Daniel Tar.

Manchester’s varsity golfers tee off their season hosting the Manchester Jamboree at Rustic Glen Golf Course on Thursday, April 10. The team placed 9th in the Cascades Conference last season. Golfers are led this season by head coach Paul Majewski.
