After celebrating the groundbreaking at the Athletic Complex last Thursday, Manchester Community Schools has announced a second groundbreaking ceremony to mark on your calendars. On Friday, May 30, at 8:30am, the district will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the Luther C. Klager Elementary School, located at 405 Ann Arbor St, on the playground. Superintendent Dr. Bezeau invites community members, local officials, teachers, students, and parents to attend and help celebrate this momentous occasion. The event will feature speeches, a ceremonial turning of the soil, and an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the renovation plans. Like the renovation of the athletic complex, the renovations at Klager are being funded with the bond passed by voters in November of 2023.

Klager principal Widad Luqman states, “It has been incredible seeing our community come together to pass this bond. These renovations have the voices of Klager students and staff weaved into them as they worked with the renovation teams to design them. Everything from our furniture and colors to our playground equipment and new technologies, Klager students and staff played an integral role in their design, and we are so excited to share it with our learning community.”

The renovations at Klager will include upgrading classrooms and technology, expanding common areas, and enhancing safety features. They have already started in some capacity, although the major work (including the playground construction) will begin June 7, the day after school ends, and is scheduled to be completed by mid-August in time to open up for the new school year.
