Obituary: Barry Ned Lee

Barry Ned Lee (September 1, 1945 – April 14, 2025)
Barry Ned Lee, “Ned” to family, passed away at age 79 at Henry Ford Hospice Home in Jackson, Mich., due to complications from cancer on April 14, 2025.
Barry was born September 1, 1945, in Manistique, Mich., to Arnold Neil and Alice Geneve (Sorenson) Lee. Barry graduated Brooklyn High School in 1963 and served in Korea during the Vietnam War in Company B, 1st Bn, 77th, Armor, 5th. He was honorably discharged in May of 1966 at level P5.
Barry was married to Pamela (Lamb) for 20 years and was a UAW rep and pipe fitter who repaired machines for General Motors for 14 years before transferring to the Saturn plant of Spring Hill, Tenn., for another 16 years prior to retirement.
Barry Ned is survived by his three sons, Barry Jonathan (BJ) Lee and Greg (Erika) Lee of Brooklyn, Mich., and Darrel (Jennifer) Lee of Dundee, Mich., and his daughter, Kimberly Rickert of Waterford, Mich., six grandchildren, Dustin (Aleisha) Lee of Westland, Mich., Danielle Lee of Grand Rapids, Mich., Bailey (Tyler) Lee of Jackson, Mich., Jacob, Cole, and Leila Rickert of Waterford, Mich., and great-grandchildren, Jameson Connelly and Molly Hull of Jackson, Mich., and his brother, Kurt (Carolyn) Lee of Hessel, Mich.
Barry Ned was an Elder of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and a member of the American Legion. He coached little league and played on a softball team with his brothers, named after their father, Arnold.
In retirement, he built smokers and ice shanties, played cribbage, and explored trails in his Jeep. Barry was loved by many. He had a warm smile and a hearty laugh, and you would often find him building fires and telling funny stories.
Barry is predeceased by his parents, Arnold Neil and Alice Geneve (Sorenson) Lee and brothers Mike (Jean) Lee, Pat, (Sandy) Lee, Tim (Ethel) Lee, Eddie Lee, and Brian (Lori) Lee, all who served in the armed forces.
His Celebration of Life is on Saturday, May 17, at 3pm, at the FOE Irish Hills, located in Brooklyn, Michigan. There will be a Rifle Volley and then dinner and drinks. A private burial will be held in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in August with family.
