Public Hearing Notice

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, the Manchester Township Planning Commission, during a special meeting, will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 at 7:00 pm. The purpose of this hearing is to receive public comment on proposed amendments to the Township’s Zoning Ordinance, Section 16.25, related to Utility-Scale Renewable Energy Systems.  These amendments include regulations for solar energy systems over 50 MW, wind energy systems over 100 MW, battery storage facilities over 200 MW, and related infrastructure.

DATE AND LOCATION: June 4th, 2025, at 7:00 pm at the Manchester Township Hall, 275 S. Macomb Street, Manchester, MI 48158

PURPOSE: An Ordinance to amend Section 16.25 of the Manchester Township Zoning Ordinance; to repeal existing language pertaining exclusively to Solar Energy Systems and to amend language to provide a comprehensive regulatory framework applicable to all principal-use renewable energy facilities.

SECTIONS FOR AMENDMENT: Article 2, Section 2.03 & Article 16, Section 16.25

PUBLIC INSPECTION: A copy of the proposed amendments is available for public inspection at the Manchester Township offices during normal business hours.

INQUIRIES AND WRITTEN COMMENTS: Written comments and/or inquiries regarding the proposed amendments may be submitted to the Manchester Township Clerk in person or via email at mtwp_clerk@sbcglobal.net or by phone at (734) 428-7090 ex. 110.

ACCESSIBILITY: This notice complies with 1976 PA 267, MCL 15.261 through 15.275, the Michigan Open Meetings Act (OMA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Manchester Township will provide auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed material being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities upon reasonable notice to the Manchester Township Clerk.
