Beginner birding class in the Leonard Preserve

The River Raisin Watershed Council is holding a beginning birding class, “Birds & Binoculars” on Friday, May 23 from 6pm to 7pm in the Leonard Preserve. The class is a fundraiser for the organization and costs $10 per person. Register here or by scanning the QR code below. The class is limited to 25 participants.
River Raisin Watershed Council states, “Join us for an engaging introduction to the world of birdwatching! This class is perfect for beginners and anyone curious about the fascinating birds in our local environment. You’ll learn the essential skills for identifying birds by sight and sound, gaining a deeper appreciation for their diverse lives. What You’ll Learn: Bird identification fundamentals (sight and sound). Exploration of local bird species and habitats. Practical tips for birdwatching.”
Binoculars will be provided for sharing among participants. However, if you own binoculars, you are encouraged to bring them. In the event of low registration or severe weather, this event may be canceled. They will communicate any changes, including cancellations, via email to all registered participants. The Leonard Preserve is located at 375 N Union St, just northwest of the City limits.
The River Raisin Watershed Council was formed in 1974 and is a public service, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Their mission is to inspire behaviors that promote stewardship, improve water quality, and encourage public participation to protect, preserve and enhance the River Raisin Watershed.
