Western-Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE) was on the move last Saturday as they participated in two popular local events: the annual Plant Sale at Freedom Township Hall and the Open House at Horning Farms. Visitors stopped by the WAVE minivan to pick up fun swag and learn more about the public transportation options available in Freedom Township and throughout greater Western Washtenaw County.
WAVE staff was on-site to answer questions and share details about their Door-to-Door service, a flexible, affordable transportation option that helps residents get to medical appointments, work, grocery stores, and social outings.
Here’s how the service works: WAVE’s Door-to-Door rides operate Monday through Friday from 6am to 9:30pm. Trips can be scheduled in advance by calling the WAVE dispatch office (734-475-9494), emailing bookmyride@wavebus.org, or using the Ride Pingo app, which allows users to book rides and track their vehicle in real time.
The weekend’s events provided a valuable opportunity for WAVE to connect with the community, answer questions, and raise awareness about this essential local service. From garden enthusiasts to farm visitors, many residents left with helpful information—and a few giveaways in hand.
