Patricia Ann Carpenter, age 85, of Clinton, MI, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Gaslight Village in Adrian, MI, under the care of Elara Caring Hospice. She was born at home on August 22, 1939, the second of ten children, to Harry and Irene (Rola) Shadley.
After graduating from Manchester High School in 1957, it was off to the big city of Ann Arbor. She promptly accepted a position at Ann Arbor Bank and Trust as a bookkeeper. She worked many years for Sycor/Northern Telcom/BNR where she attained the position of Payroll Manager, and oversaw payrolls for over seventeen hundred employees. Pat was affectionally called “Patty Payroll “by her family and friends. She retired in 2015 from Thomson Reuters Tax and Accounting after twenty-two years of service.
In her younger years, Pat enjoyed rodeos and league bowling. In her later years she liked to birdwatch, attend art and crafts fairs, have weekly card games with her sisters, and the occasional casino trip. She was a great cook and avid cookbook collector. Her famous baked beans were always requested at family gatherings. Most important was her love for her family.
