The Manchester CROP Hunger Walk is coming to town on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Organized by local churches, the CRC, and Manchester Family Services, this will be its 20th year of bringing together residents of different ages, faiths, and backgrounds to raise awareness and money to fight hunger locally and internationally.

Participants will be able to walk or run the designated CROP Hunger Walk route around Manchester or around the high school track in solidarity with hungry people in developing countries who typically walk as many as six miles a day to get food, water, and fuel. Each participant decides how far to walk with options ranging between 1/2 mile to 2 & ¾ miles, but if mobility is an issue, participants can even opt to “rock in a rocking chair.” This year Manchester will be 1 of the 2,000 communities across the country working to end hunger, one step at a time.

Participants have the option of starting a team, joining an existing team or registering as an individual and then fundraising for the cause. It’s not too late to sign up online HERE. You can also pick up a registration form and collection envelope at the Community Resource Center Office. For more information call (734) 428-7788.

In the last 20 years, CROP Hunger Walks have raised more than $294 million to help people struggling to feed their families – both around the world and around the corner. In fact, 25 percent of the funds raised by CROP Hunger Walks benefit the communities where they take place. In the last 20 years, the Manchester CRC has received $10,960 from our CROP Hunger walk to fight hunger here in Manchester.
