Avia Powell, 1947 - 2016

Her Legacy... Avia Powell, age 68, passed away April 15, 2016 in Okemos, MI. She was born on October 13, 1947 to Mattie Jane Kincer in Mayking, KY. Avia married Tom Powell on August 29, 1986 in Plymouth, MI. She was a food and beverage director for many years at Mayflower Hotel in Plymouth. Avia will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her Family… Avia is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Donna Hines of Okemos; and granddaughter, Sarah Kuhn of Okemos. She is also survived by her sisters, Brenda and Sue; and brothers, Pete, Bobby, and Frank; step-siblings: Barbara, Bill and Irene; grandson: Nathan; great granddaughter: Madison. Avia is preceded in death by her brothers, Jay and Daryl; and sister, Patty.

Her Farewell… Avia's Community Farewell will be on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 7 PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Legacy Event Center with a gathering beginning at 3 PM until the time of service.
