Even the lapghans the Chain Gang currently produces require much less yarn than the twin-sized afghans they are undertaking to produce.

The Chain Gang, Manchester's own network of knitters and crocheters who produce premie hats, newborn hats, chemo caps, prayer shawls, lapghans, slippers and more for premature babies, newborns, cancer patients, veterans, children in foster care and others in need have taken on a new project. The cardio intensive care unit at U of M's hospital has asked the Chain Gang to supply twin-sized afghans which will be used to warm up sterile hospital rooms and then be sent home with patients when they leave.

Christine Baisden, Chain Gang organizer, explained that while it only takes a small amount of yarn to knit a hat, it takes a large amount of yarn to knit a twin afghan and the donated yarn supplies are not anywhere close to enough to fill this request. If you have any yarn you would like to donate please drop it off at Pyramid Office Supply at 108 East Main Street.

The Chain Gang will also accept donations of money that will be used to purchase yarn to make the afghans.
