The largest lake in the Manchester area is Pleasant Lake, located in Freedom Township. Both it’s size and it’s position as the headwaters of Mill Creek which feeds into the Huron River, make it an important battleground in the fight for clean water. One group on the front lines of this battle is the Pleasant Lake Properties Owners Association and while they operate much with the intent of other property owners associations, they also fight against invasive species, pollution through run-off, and other natural and manmade dangers like pipelines.

The public is invited to the Pleasant Lake Properties Owners Association’s Annual Meeting on April 9 from 2 to 4pm at Freedom Township Hall which is located at 11508 E. Pleasant Lk Rd. The topic of the meeting will be “Securing Resources to Care for Your Land and Water” and will feature speaker Lisa Brush, executive director of The Stewardship Network.

Lisa Brush has been leading collaborative conservation initiatives in the nonprofit environmental sector for over two decades. In her role as co-founder and Executive Director of The Stewardship Network she has engaged thousands of professionals and volunteers in identifying the community and conservation needs of the 21st century and determining strategic support The Network can provide. Brush has a BA in Science in Society from Wesleyan University, an MS from University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment, and is a graduate of Michigan State University’s Great Lakes Leadership Academy.
