The Flying Dutchbots with their robot and their trophies for winning alliance and the overall first place in the competition.

FTC Team #11193, the Flying Dutchbots, competed on Saturday, December 9th, in East Jackson. The team maintained first place throughout the competition, and made it to the elimination rounds. The Dutchbots earned the privilege to choose two carefully selected alliance partners for the elimination round. Though a slight misfortune caused the robot to break in the finals, the team and its two alliance partners still managed to win the competition.

During the award ceremony at the very end of the competition, the team won the Judge’s Award. FIRST Robotics says that during the competition, the judging panel may meet a team whose unique efforts, performance or dynamics merit special recognition. The team worked well together and remained focused and thorough while answering questions during the judging session, helping them to earn the award. Because the team was the captain of the alliance that won the competition, they also received the Winning Alliance award.

Manchester’s Flying Dutchbots qualified for the Michigan State Competition which will take place this Friday and Saturday at Kellogg Arena in downtown Battle Creek.
